Portishead Writers
Portishead Writers is a welcoming community for people who care about books, reading, and writing. We meet monthly at Portishead Library, and the group is also an online space for those further afield — a place for encouragement, accountability, conversation, and useful resources.
The Writers’ GroupWe meet on the second Tuesday of each month at Portishead Library. The meetings are relaxed and conversational. Members talk about what they’re working on, share ideas, ask questions, and discuss the challenges of writing. For those who want it, the group also provides a gentle sense of accountability — a reason to keep the work moving between meetings. |
Reading as well as writingAlongside the writers’ group we also run Bring Your Own Book, a relaxed reading group with no set text. Members simply bring whatever they are currently reading and talk about it — a book they loved, a discovery they want to share, or something they are still making up their mind about. It keeps the literary conversation open, curious, and pressure-free. |
Join in from anywhereNot everyone is local — and that is part of the point. The site is being built as a place where those outside Portishead can still take part through resources, prompts, tools, challenges, and discussion. You do not have to live nearby to join the spirit of it. |
